Hello Parents and Guardians,

Welcome or welcome back to Foose Elementary School! A school where students are busy “growing their brains” to high academic expectations and learning how to be excellent learners. Foose Elementary School strives to provide a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment. We teach our students how to follow the 3Rs (Being Ready, Being Responsible and Being Respectful) and the “Golden Rule” Treating others the way you would want to be treated!

Please note the following:

1. Student’s first day of school will be Tuesday, September 2nd. Should you want your child to learn remotely and/or at home, you must register your child to HVLA (Harrisburg Virtual Learning Academy) immediately. To contact HVLA, please call 717-703-4364 or visit: hvla@hbgsd.us.

2. Our student dress code has remained the same. To find out more information about our district’s dress code, please visit our district Website at https://www.hbgsd.us.

3. Please do not drop off or allow your child to walk to school too early. We do not have staff on site to supervise your child until 8:35am. School starts and doors open at 8:35am and the Late/Tardy Bell rings at 8:50am. Breakfast will be served from 8:35am to 8:50am only.

4. The end of the school day is a hectic time in a school building. Therefore, we do not allow early pick-up/dismissal of students after 3:15pm. All students will be dismissed from school at 3:50pm. Please pick up your child on time. We only have staff until 4:15pm to supervise the late pick-up of students, please be on time.

5. Please make sure that your most current phone number is registered in our computer system here at Foose. If it is incorrect, please contact our Foose office (717-703-1280) immediately to have it changed to the correct telephone number.

6. All communication will be sent out via our Blackboard communication system, ClassDoJo, and our Foose Website - www.hbgsd.us/foose. Our Foose Website houses important information; such as, our school calendar, our Student/Parent Handbook, and all important Title 1 documentation.

7. Please join us on August 28th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm for our Open House to meet teachers and see the classrooms.

8. Please join us on August 29th from 1:30pm to 3:30pm for our Intensive Autism Open House to meet teachers and see the classrooms.

9. If you have a child that will be 5 years old by September 1st, please make sure to contact Student Services at 717-703-4008 to register your child for Kindergarten. If your child is younger than 5 years old, please contact Fabiola Torres at 717-425-3055. She will help assist you in finding preschool programs for your child.
